Spring: Awakening

Spring arrives with a gentle awakening, painting the hillsides, orchards, and gardens in fresh green after the winter rains. The landscape bursts with vivid colors: bright wildflowers, blossoming fruit trees, and the soft purples and yellows of herbs in bloom. Lavender and lemon balm fill the air with their gentle fragrances. Trees push out their first tender leaves, and water rushes through the island’s streams. The weather is gentle and clear, perfect for wandering the old routes of Andros, winding between stone walls, villages, and valleys. At the table, meals become lighter, filled with fresh greens, herbs, and the first vegetables of the year.

Summer: Bright Days

Summer settles over the estate with a warm, slow rhythm. The air is heavy with sunlight, and the days are long, stretching from golden mornings to deep blue evenings. Life moves slowly—swimming in the pool or at the nearby beautiful beaches, resting in the shade, and relaxing in the hammock outside. Tomatoes, zucchini, and other garden vegetables arrive in abundance, and the vineyard begins to turn golden as the muscat grapes ripen, ready to be harvested. Swimming becomes a daily ritual, whether in the cool pool or the sparkling waters of Andros’ beaches. It is a time for gathering with friends late into the night. On some evenings, we lie back to watch the stars, the gentle sounds of summer hushed around us.

Autumn: Harvest

The olive groves are ready, and we spend days gathering olives, spreading nets across the terraces, and breathing in the earthy scent of crushed leaves. After collecting the olives, we press them to make our own fresh olive oil, a process that connects us to centuries of tradition. The vineyard still holds late grapes, and figs and pomegranates arrive in the kitchen, filling meals with the flavors of the season. The hillsides glow in shades of yellow and orange, and the water in the streams flows clear and cool, perfect for wandering along Andros’ trails. The days are pleasantly warm, ideal for swimming in the sea, which has reached its highest temperatures after the long summer days. In the evenings, we gather outside, enjoying the pink autumn light, the long shadows, and the gentle sounds of the season—a time both productive and calm.

Winter: Quiet

Winter brings a calm, restorative rhythm to Ktima Lemonies. The hillsides turn lush green from the rains, and the citrus trees—lemons, oranges, and mandarins—fill the air with a fresh, fragrant scent. In the Main House, the fireplace warms the space, creating a cozy atmosphere, while cooking together becomes a daily ritual. In the winter garden, cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower, and broccoli grow, providing fresh produce even in the colder months. The days are shorter, but the light is soft and golden, perfect for walks along the quiet trails or beside streams glistening in the winter sun. Evenings are spent gathered by the fire, reading, or simply listening to the gentle sounds of winter—wind through the olive trees, distant water flowing, and the quiet hum of a peaceful island in its slowest season.

At Ktima Lemonies, the seasons are always changing, allowing you to follow their rhythms, taste the fruits of the garden, and quietly attune yourself to the pulse of the earth.
